1 Week

Dear Reme Lynn,
Happy first week in this world my sweet daughter. I'm at a loss for words baby. I just don't even know where to start. Since the second you entered the world, I have never in my life felt so much emotion. It's overwhelming. You are so very loved. I hope you feel that in your soul. You seem like a very happy baby and that warms my heart! My only wish in the world is that you are happy and feel loved every single second of the day!
Your Auntie Brooke did an amazing job documenting your arrival. How she does it, I will never know. She was able to capture this incredible day so accurately and eloquently!
Here is a sort of behind the scene version of your birth story!
I was up at the break of dawn. I couldn't wait to get to the hospital. I was ready. I wore my lucky socks. These are the same socks I wore the day you were conceived!

Here we go!

The staff at Centennial Hospital could not have been any better! They were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient!
Your daddy of course was my rock. Being in the operating room was a little scary and he was able to keep my mind off of any worries and stay focused on the task at hand, seeing you for the first time.

Before I knew it, here you were! Pure perfection!

Your Apgar Scores were 8 & 9. Apparently they won't give a 10 but I bet if they did you would have gotten one!

Everyone knew how important it was to us that we immediately have contact with you and they made sure it happened!

Here's Dr. Reynolds. She did a fantastic job taking care of us!

They took me to the recovery room where we were able to spend some nice quality time together and you able to breast feed for the first time. It was the most precious moment in my life! You did a great job and I was so very proud of us!

Our first night alone together was so incredible. You were really quite the angel. I couldn't (and still can't) stop staring at you. We made you. You were inside me and now you're here. I have waited so very long to be your mommy. It's something I've wanted all of my life! I kept holding you and looking at you and thinking, "She's really here. She's finally really here and I get to keep her!"

We spent the next 2 nights in the hospital learning more about you, about breast feeding and about how to take care of ourselves once we got you home. For the most part, we knew what were were doing but there were a couple of moments where I felt a little panicked.

Bringing you home was such a joy and terrifying at the same time. You are just so very precious and we just don't want to make any mistakes.

Sorry about the hat! It was a little big but too dang cute! We did put your other shoe on once they took off the baby LoJac!

I changed you into a different hat once we got you downstairs.

We stopped by Camp Bow Wow to drop off one of your blankets for your puppy sister to get used to your smell and headed home.

You're a great sleeper most nights. You expectantly so get up every two hours or so to eat. Your Gmomma has been here all week and got up with us every time  you woke up and hung out until we went back to bed. Having her here has been wonderful. She really has helped us out a lot.

We gave you your first bath on Sunday and you were actually really good. You didn't like it very much but you didn't protest too badly either.

Your sister Stella has become your #1 fan. She sits at my feet while you eat every single time. She even brings us a bone once in a while just in case you may need a little more food than your getting! She makes sure she knows where you are at all times and is always very concerned when you cry and most times comes into your room while we change your diaper just to make sure you are okay!

We took you for your first doctor visit on Monday and you hadn't gained any weight but you didn't lose any either. At the time I didn't think my milk had come in but the doctor had me feed you while were there and you gained an ounce and a half.  We will go back tomorrow to see if all the new yummy milk is causing some weight gain! I'm pretty sure it has! We LOVE your doctor! She's really funny and kind and puts your mommy's OCD mind at rest!

Yesterday your most talented Auntie Brooke took your newborn pictures and even came by the house today to take some more! All I can say is WOW & WHOA! Again, these are precious priceless memories that we will cherish forever!

One whole week! You're home, you're safe, you're healthy and oh baby oh baby, you are loved!

I'm going to do my very best to make sure that all of your needs are taken care of for the rest of your life!

I so look forward to watching you grow!

You Are My Heart

I love you forever and always,
Mommy
