9 Weeks (For Real)

Dear Reme Lynn,

You had your 2nd month check up with Dr. Ros this week. You now weigh 11 pounds and 11.2 ounces and are 22 inches tall! Check out those cheeks! So cute!

You had to get 2 shots but you handled it like a trooper! I was so proud of you! You're so very brave already! You're doing great kiddo! Keep it up!

We are still dealing with the "witching hour" but they are getting shorter and less "witchy"!

One of our friends in our mommy group mentioned a book called "The Wonder Weeks" when I was telling her about your "witchy-ness" and it is really quite interesting. It's a theory that babies go through mental milestones which causes them to have "cloudy" weeks. For example this week you are learning the "world of patterns", you won't experience the world as a bowl of soup anymore where things are blended together. You will start to notice regular patterns, for example your hands and your voice as well as actual patterns and textures. So far the "cloudy" weeks really coincide with your "witchy" weeks so I thought I'd follow along with their theories and see how it goes. This helps mommy a lot because it gives me games I can play with you to help you through these developments. According to this book you will continue to have "cloudy" weeks aka mental developments for at least 77 weeks but they will vary greatly. It really does make sense if you think about it. Anyone would be fussy if the world they knew changed so suddenly. Plus there's an app and you know I love that!

I feel like I can actually see the wheels turning in your head though. You are starting to "chat" a lot and you are desperately trying to find your thumb! It's the sweetest thing! You'll find it baby girl, hang in there!

This week's love handle winner is your inner thigh! Oh my goodness how I love this little roll of sweetness!

Love, love, love you,
Mommy

8 Weeks

Oh Reme Lynn,
This has been an interesting week, like last week each day you are different but you were consistent with one thing. The "witching hour" or as I have researched the "purple crying period" or colic. Two nights in a row at the stroke of 6:45pm you woke up from a dead sleep crying. It scared us. I mean out of nowhere you started crying and continued to do so inconsolably for at least an hour. Then the rest of the week you start to get fussy around 7pm and it will last anywhere from an hour to three hours. It is a very common behavior for babies and it's just mind boggling. Most nights your daddy hangs out with you during that time, we trade off as well. It truly tests our patience. There's really nothing we can do but just hang out with you until you're ready to be the sweet angel face that your normally are! 98% of the time you are a pure joy to be around!
Other than that it has been a great week! We have spent a lot of time with our friends this week. We are extremely blessed with many wonderful friends in our life! One of my oldest friends Janet came to visit from Louisiana. She & I have been friends since 1999. We've only lived in the same state for a short period but have always remained in touch and manage to get together every once in a while. That is a true test of friendship, that you don't necessarily talk everyday or see each other very often but when you are together you laugh, share, console, support each other and love unconditionally. We spent time with Jaime, the LLBC (Lovely Ladies Brunch Club) and the Chuy's Mommy group. All wonderfully special and unique women. All of them are strong, intelligent, beautiful, honest and fun. I am honored to be friends with all of them and I am beyond pleased that you will hopefully be influenced by all of them in some way!

I'm looking forward to the weekend. The weather is just gorgeous and it is going to continue to be so. We will be outside as much as possible! You love it!

This week's favorite love handle! I love to kiss it and snuggle my nose into that sweet little crevice!

You are so very precious!
I love you,
Mommy

More Adventures of Confident Mom and Baby Sweet Cheeks

Hello baby girl,

Boy oh boy this has been a great week! You are so amazing. I know I sound like a broken record but literally you are a different child every day. Your routine changes, your demeanor changes, you change. It's so fascinating! We have been very busy this week! You are so getting used to your car seat too!

It was rainy on Thursday so we just chilled out at home and our friend Angie came over to watch movies. You were very good the entire day until your "witching hour" (which can be anywhere from an hour to 5 hours long between the hours of 5pm and 9pm).

One of your favorite things to do is to hang out on the couch spread eagle until you pass out! So sweet!

That's that way you've liked to hang out since you were born too!
My how you have grown!

Friday we had lunch with my mommy group but only us and Auntie Jaime were able to make it so we got a bonus day with Jaime this week! Yay! We love her! She has been so much help with to us. She really is one of my best friends! Then we went for a nice walk in the park with Angie and our doggies! You were so good the entire day!

Your Great Grandfather (Papaw) and your Great(est) Aunt Melissa came to town this weekend to see you! You are Great Grandchild #1 for him and he was so excited to see you! We were on the go go go all weekend long!
A trip to Walmart so Melissa could buy all of the supplies she needed to make us freezer meals to last us forever! She worked so hard all weekend long! We're set! We've got enchiladas, chicken dumplings, pulled pork, beef tips, meatloaf and chicken pot pies!!

Sunday we went to church and I was so proud of you! Even with all of the rocking loud music you slept through the entire service! After that we went to Nolensville for some antique shopping! Your Papaw is so very proud of you! He just beams when he talks about you and how he married your daddy and I!
You seem to like the Baby Bjorn just fine! So many people stopped me to take a look at my sleeping angel!

Monday we were off to an early start! We went to the Loveless Cafe & Antique Archeology.
Yep...there you are being perfect as usual!

Now don't get me wrong, you're not perfect all day everyday. Well okay you are but you have moments that you are an unhappy child and cry and cry. We go through the laundry list of things and eventually get you to calm down. Daddy has the magic touch most of the times and a bath almost always works! You love taking a bath! You even got mad at me when I took you out of the bath today!

Tuesday we went and had lunch with daddy at his work and then took Stella for a walk!

It's getting so nice outside! I'm so glad that you like being outside my sweet! It's going to be a great summer!

Today to "celebrate" the seventh week of your life we went to our friend Alli's house to see her and Tanner and had lunch and then went for a walk and then we went to see Auntie BK & CC and did a fun photo shoot with all of us! You were a bit fussy during the shoot but it had been a long day for you and I think you were ready for some downtime!

So there you have it! A very full week my sweet! I am so enthralled with you! You are doing so very well! You are giving me more and more adorable smiles everyday!

Okay so that one's not a smile but just look at that face!!

You also had your first projectile poop this week! It was super hilarious! Your daddy and I laughed and laughed and laughed! It was so loud and literally shot across the room! Nice shot kiddo!

I have a new favorite love handle this week! I always rub it while you're nursing! It's edible really!

You are so loved my dear child! Thank you for a wonderful week! Thank you for being such a great adventure partner!

I love you so much!
Mommy

6 Weeks

Reme Lynn,
It really is quite scary how quickly time is going by. I wish I could just stop the clock and have this moment last a lifetime but as the book "If I Could Keep You Little" says then I'd miss you growing up to be the person you are meant to be!
This week I had somewhat of an epiphany. I've been struggling with some things. First of all, most days you don't want me to put you down and to be totally honest, I don't want to put you down either but there is this little voice in the back of my head that says I should be doing something while you sleep. I should be doing laundry, cleaning, checking my emails, keeping caught up with work, writing thank you notes, organizing...the ridiculous list goes on so I feel "lazy" and "unproductive". Secondly, from the day we brought you home I have had this uneasy feeling of anxiety. It happens to me periodically when you cry your blood curdling cry when your diaper rash is bothering you or when I put you in your car seat or when you're just plain tired but refuse to sleep. It also happens when I want/need to take you somewhere. I become very protective so I over analyze the situation. What's the weather like, what type of mood are you in, how long will we be gone, when can we come back, what if this happens or what if that happens...and most times I talk myself out of going. "Oh it's raining, what if someone loses control of their car and hits us? What if she gets wet?!? (heaven forbid you get wet). Oh I don't want her in the car seat that long. Her bottom hurts her and I don't want her to have to sit on it. She didn't sleep well last night and needs to get some good rest." Again, the ridiculous list goes on. So then I feel trapped at home and I start to feel "lazy" and "unproductive" and I have had to cancel several plans and I feel like I'm disappointing people. You will soon discover that our family is surrounded by incredibly supportive and loving people. I confided in many of them. Your aunties Brooke, CC & Jaime all had wonderful words of encouragement and reminded me that the house work and the rest of it will always be here but this precious time with you will not and so the pet hair on the floor accumulates and fur balls hover in the air and emails remain unanswered and I'm okay with that! Then your father, who knows me best and has this special way of reaching me, was able to give me confidence. I don't know how he does it and I don't think he even knows how he does it or that he does it but he did. After we talked I felt like a knew mommy! Most importantly YOUR BADASS MOMMY. I am strong, I am capable and I know what is best for you and what you need. "I GOT THIS" So here we go kiddo! You and me baby! We're a team! We're a team of three to be precise and "WE got this!"

This past Sunday was your first Easter. We just took it easy and relaxed around the house. I made us a special dinner and we had such a wonderful day. God is good! All the time! Just look at you!

I L.O.V.E. this dress! It was given to you by your Uncle Ricky & his girlfriend Kathy. Her daughter made it! It is just precious!

We took you to see the Easter bunny on Saturday and you slept the entire time!

The Easter bunny was kind enough to come by the house and surprise you with a few things. First he gathered some of the gifts you have received from family and friends and a couple of new items as well! Mommy & Daddy will have to eat the candy for you this year!

The rest of the week we have been adventurous!

Monday, we went to see mommy's doctor for her six week check up (all is well by the way) and then we went to visit our friends at Whitehardt.

Tuesday we went to the mall all by ourselves!

You got some new hair bows and I got some new sunglasses!

Then for your "Six Week Birthday" celebration we went and had lunch with auntie Jaime!

We're getting the hang of it my sweet angel! Most of the time you seem to be enjoying yourself. Although you left me have it when you've had enough! You do have a good set of lungs on ya, that's for sure!

I'm still waiting for that special moment of a real smile! You've given me little ones here and there but not the real "reactionary" happy smile. I'm sure it will come any day now! I can't wait to hear your sweet giggle and to see that sweet face full of joy!

You have already outgrown the first outfit you ever wore! It was a gift from your daddy!

You have continued to be a good eater (and pooper). You're healthy and are gaining weight well! At your last doctor's appointment you weighed 9.7 pounds and on our home scale this week you weighed 10.5 pounds! I love it!
As a matter of fact this is my favorite "love handle"! Yummy!

I love you baby,
Your momma
