Week 28 Year 1

Hello my love,

We had an opposite of mellow week this week! We did lots of traveling, had lots of fun, a couple of meltdowns and a big doctor visit!

We flew to New Mexico to visit with Gmomma and PoppaG (that's Gerald's new name...maybe) in Santa Fe! Oh my goodness it is so beautiful there! Mountains as far as the eye can see! The weather was absolute perfection! Warm and sunny during the day and cool with a slight breeze at night! Our flights were right on time (both ways). We had a long layover in Kansas City and entertained ourselves in a restaurant for three hours! I thought for sure you'd be a bear on the next flight because you hadn't had a nap but instead you passed right out!

After we settled in and had some dinner we went to the 90th year celebration of Zozobra (Que viva la Fiesta)! It's a traditional celebration of releasing the sorrows of yesterday (Old Man Gloom) into the air and never thinking of them again!  It was really neat! 30,000 people attended! Even though there were so many people we were able to find a nice comfy spot near a playground and of all things a astro-turp putting hole! It made for the perfect little hangout for our group.

There was a group of little kids playing in boxes and you joined right in the fun! Of all things...plan empty boxes! You would have thought they were made of cotton candy or something. All of you were having a ball jumping in and out of them, sitting in them and then the Grandmother of the group of children made tunnels out of them. You also joined them in a game of "ring around the posies" and then finally grabbed a little boy's hand (Matteo) and decided that he was going to be your buddy for the rest of the night. At first he was a little taken back but obliged your wishes and followed you around like a good buddy should! It was absolutely adorable!

The next day was Daddy's birthday!!! You woke up extremely early! We let daddy sleep in a bit and then woke him up with coffee and presents! We got him some tickets to a couple of Titan football games! We are all very excited to go! Then we went to the Santa Fe Farmer's Market where Gmomma works sometimes and we got to meet several of her friends and she bought you THREE pairs of shoes!! Score!

Next we headed to the Santa Fe Children's Museum! What a cool place! There were all kinds of things to do! Lots of thing to ride, climb, explore and create! We had so much fun!

After a nice long nap (by all of us), we enjoyed some PoppaG  homemade cheesecake for Daddy's birthday and then went to dinner! We might just have to do that more often! The dessert before dinner thing! What a great idea! Dinner was super yummy and I hope that your Daddy felt as loved as he truly is! He's so good to us baby girl! He deserves all of the happiness in the world!

The next morning you rose again very early (thank you mountain time) but Gmomma had gotten you some fun activities to keep you occupied! We played with hand stamps, colored, read books and enjoyed our breakfast with the sun rising! You make the most hilarious face when you are focusing on stuff like pressing the stamp into the ink or onto the paper!

Then we went on a mini tour of New Mexico, we drove through Espanola, Ojo Sarco, Dixon and Taos. We drove up the Ojo Sarco mountains to visit Gmomma's little house (casita)! It was so peaceful. You really seemed to light up when we were there! You got all excited and roamed the grounds and talked and sang the whole time!

We also stopped at a great pizza place called Pizzano's! Yummy pizza with a view! Followed by a drive over the Rio Grande, into the valley and past The Vivac Winery where Gmomma works sometimes! The pictures just don't do it justice!!

 Our view at the pizzaria!

After we got back G, you and I went for a walk to the park, played a bit and headed back for nice relaxing early bedtime! It was really hard to say goodbye the next morning. We had such a wonderful trip! I wish New Mexico wasn't so far away! We'll be back for sure!

You made your transition back to school almost seamlessly and drop offs have been easier than ever! (blew me away!) I can tell you really like your new school, friends and teachers! I can't even tell you how happy that makes me feel!

Here are a few pictures from the school newsletter!

You had your 18 month check up today! (Last shot until you're 5 years old!) You weigh 24lbs and 9.6oz, you are 32.5 inches long and you have a tiny head circumference of 45.5 cm. Dr. Ros is very pleased with your progress. She thinks you are a living doll! I have to agree!

I love you my little monkey,
Mommy
