Week 37 Year 1

Hey little monkey butt,

What a fun Halloween weekend we had!  It started at your school's celebration on Thursday. All of the kids were going to dress up and the parents were invited to watch you parade around in your costumes! I learned that 1) you are not a fan of surprises and 2) chaos and loudness freak/bum you out. When I showed up at school you had already been changed into your costume. The kids were playing and being loud and you sort of stood there in the middle of the room taking it all in until you saw me and you lost it! I was dressed as The Man with the Yellow Hat again which you had seen me dressed as before but this time you did not seem to like it. You also didn't like that I wasn't scooping you up to go home and you didn't like the fact that I was playing with the other children and taking photos. You wanted 100% of my full attention and just in general you were uneasy and not comfortable with the situation. Everyone looked adorable though and I'd like to think you had some fun!

That's your bestie Avery!

Finally after the inside festivities it was time to go outside and that's when I knew you were really not in a good place because you didn't even want to go outside AND when we got there you not only wouldn't leave my side but you were very unhappy! After about a half hour I had to go back to work and reluctantly left you totally hysterical! I was crushed! I'm glad I went but was totally second guessing it! Maybe it would have been easier on you if I had not been there. Maybe it was too confusing for you. Ugh! I'm so sorry if I made the day more difficult! I never want to see you distraught!

The next day was HALLOWEEN! Your Grandpa Ron and Mimi decided to come in for the weekend and our first stop was trick or treating! Your first official trick or treating "experience"! We went to a mall (once again but last year we didn't really trick or treat) because it was so yucky outside. Daddy went as the man and I went as a balloon vendor!

Mollie Jaime were there too!

On Saturday we decided to make the trip up to the Chattanooga Aquarium! What a fun fun day! You were a mile a minute and loved every second! I was impressed because you didn't (once again) take a nap! (That is becoming a weekend habit) Nonetheless it was a blast!

 Singing the "Baby Shark" song!

More adventures to follow the next day as we spent some nice quality time with Grandpa & Mimi, did a little shopping and then went to Averie Grace's SIXTH birthday party at Glow-Galaxy! What a cool place to have a party! Crazy thing was that this time, you didn't want to have anything to do with the bouncy houses! BUT we slid up and down the slide a hundred times at least! It was a great day and so wonderful to celebrate our great friend!

We sadly said goodbye to Grandpa and Mimi that night! You are tepid around them now but I know that someday soon you'll understand who they are and how much they love you and how fun they are to be around! They showered you with gifts! You received a thoughtful Halloween basket with trinkets, books and candy! They also bought you a couple of souvenirs from the aquarium! A shark and penguin!

The rest of the week has been business as usual! Here is your new favorite way to read! You like to get all of your animal friends in your rocking chair and you must have the blanket and then I have to sit on floor to read to you which I gladly do because we're reading and that's all that matters!

You are slightly obsessed with Frozen right now! You DO NOT want to take off your Frozen pjs in the morning and want to watch the movie every night and listen to the soundtrack the second we get in the car! It's endearing but...it's engraved into my brain now!

Honestly though, I cherish every moment, they are fleeting and change so often. I want to embrace them all, the good, the bad, the adorable, the annoying, the fascinating, the ugly, the pretty and the simple! All of them!

We were grocery shopping tonight and you were being funny. Sort of talking to yourself and to me and being silly and we passed a mother and her daughter who was about 24 or 25 and the mother looked at you with a glimmer of a secret understanding in her eye and the daughter sort of chuckled and I said, "you were this size and this age just yesterday!" and the mother said, "yes she was". The daughter said, "more like 22 years ago" and the mother said, "No, it was yesterday." The daughter didn't get it but the mother and I did. It all goes by way too fast and I promise you I will do my very best to take no moment for granted. Not one! I will cherish them all. That's not to say it's all going to be peaches and roses but I get it. I get it's all a series of quick glimpses, phases and ultimately moments of purpose. Deep breath. This is big. Your daddy said/texted something really cool today! After sending him our daily video of you saying "hi" he wrote; "Never thought I'd love someone they way I love you two! Sounds like song lyrics!" And it does. You made our life musical, joyful, dramatic and meaningful!

Thank you baby,
Momma
