Part 2 Week 18 Year 1

The Disney Adventure
Animal Kingdom

3 days of pure magic! Okay well, not PURE magic but it was really great! Once we dropped off Mimi, Mindy & Aubrey at the Miami Airport we sat in crazy traffic due to a couple of accidents for almost 2 hours! Now our "easy 3 hour drive" turned into a 5 hour drive, which would have been a lot more stressful had our destination not been so anticipated! We stopped in Boca Raton for a nice lunch and to stretch our legs and then before you knew it we were there! We stayed at the All Star Movie Resort and it was very sweet. It had a lovely Fantasia themed pool, a Mighty Ducks themed pool, a Toy Story area, a Love Bug area and your favorite a 101 Dalamations area! Every time we would walk through it you would go crazy! "Dog dog, dog dog, dog dog"! You would also get super excited every time we went to our hotel room. I think it might have been your favorite spot for the entire trip! You would run back and forth from the bathroom to the dining area, stop at the drawers and open and shut them all and put things on the shelves. Watching you have so much fun in the room might have been a favorite highlight of the trip for me too! Once we got settled we walked around and explored the hotel, grabbed a bite to eat and participated in the nightly dance party! Then it was lights our for big day the next morning!

We got up bright and early the next morning to head to Animal Kingdom! We had breakfast reservations at The Tusker House and would be joined by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck & Goofy! What a way to go! You get into the park before anyone else when you have reservations before they open! Score! We sailed right in, got a stroller and had some yummy breakfast. You were much better with the characters than I thought you would be! You only got freaked out when they would approach you.You gave them high fives and watched them very closely! Although you would have nothing to do with Goofy!

Animal Kingdom is a lot like a zoo! There are several area that you can go and explore on foot like a zoo. We watched a cute bird show, walked around "Africa" and then you fell asleep while we were exploring "Asia". So afterwards we took you to the baby care area so you could get some nice air conditioned rest. We hung out there for about an hour, you woke up, had some snacks and then we went on a safari! It was SO cool! We so so many fascinating animals!

We also took a train to "Rafiki's Planet", it's the conservation station. An educational area to teach us about animals and taking care of them. You also got to pet some goats and pigs. Of course you do that all the time but not at Disney World!

As we were leaving, one of the cast members had a group of kids dancing outside and we were able to join them but only at the very last moment. The group of kids followed Chip & Dale for some photographs and you stood looking up at this guitar player. I introduced you and we showed him how you can dance to "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes"! THEN he broke out into song! I only got the last part of it but it was very special and so nice of him to do!

By the time we got to Dinasour Land it was hot, getting late and we still needed to get you home, napped and ready for dinner! So we didn't spend a ton of time there. In retrospect I wish we had blown off our dinner plans and saw a show or two and would have rode a few rides because it turns out you love them! (More on that later!) BUT there's always next time! And you can be sure there WILL be a next time!!

Like I mentioned before you LOVED that hotel room, so once we got back there from all day at Animal Kingdom, you were ready to go and would not take a nap! Therefore, on the way to dinner you fell asleep and slept in my arms until right before dinner arrived. You awoke a very unhappy and tired child. Rightfully so! It was late but our hopes were to watch the fireworks from on top of the Contemporary Hotel! We had a lovely dinner and waited a little bit for the fireworks but it just got too late and we had another big day ahead of us.

  1. So Fun! I love that she found joy in the hotel room...I know I always could use a lesson in finding joy in small things!
